recycle at home

There’s a company in the city I live in that takes pre-existing homes and move them onto empty lots. These homes would otherwise be destroyed, where they would take at least 300 years, recycling into our environment in a negative way, polluting the atmosphere and everything else. The problem I’m having is that I need to think of why a recycled home is better than building one from scratch, or moving into one through real estate without sounding like I’m Miss America or something…

these are the specific materials: wrappers of candies, chips, and biscuits (aside from the usual throw pillows), razor blades, and triple and double A batteries
here in our place there was a time when throw pillows containing very small strips of plastic (biscuit and candy wrappers) inside instead of cotton have gotten very popular… i am looking for other ways to recycle these materials aside from the throw pillows.

My foster daughter has been asking my husband and I to recycle. I am all about helping the environment, but I don’t even know where to start. We don’t have a lot of extra space in our house for seperate containers for sorting. However, she really wants us to do this. Any suggestions for someone who does not know where to begin? I know she is right, and I want to encourage her to do the right thing, I just don’t even know where to start!

My husband and I recycle everything and each week we have more recycables than trash, I wish more people would do this. It takes the same amount of time to throw something into a recycling bin as it does to throw it in the trash.

Bins say, “bottles only” but does this include plastic milk bottles and household cleaner bottles, or just water bottles? Also should I take off the lids and throw them away or can they be recycled?

I’m trying to be as environmentally conscious as possible. That means I have to collect my household recycling myself and take it to a recycling facility nearby. We’ve got a bin for plastics, a bin for paper, and a bin for aluminum/tin. What I want to know is, are all those crazy plastic blister packs recycleable? Are the packages that my Marie Callendar’s frozen dinners come in recycleable? Can I recycle any paper products? And lastly, why doesn’t Chicago have a curbside recycling program yet??? (not talking about blue bag program)
